General Statement of
Duties: Registration of all new
patients and maintaining accurate demographic information all established
patients. Prepare charts for the
next days patients. Back up Medical
Records Clerk and Referral Department as needed.
Reports To: Office Manager
Example of Duties:
1. Maintain correct demographic information
on patients.
*New
patients
Not
registered - gather demographic information,
set up patient account in Medical
Manager, copy insurance cards, obtain proper patient signatures, and create a
chart.
Pre
registered - copy insurance cards and
verify that all insurance numbers and demographic information is correct,
obtain proper patient signature and complete creating chart.
*Established
patients
Maintain
accurate demographic information, update copies of insurance cards, obtain
proper patient signatures, create new chart if needed.
2. Prepare charts for the next day
appointments:
• Insert encounter form
• verify insurance information
• verify patient demographics
• check for proper signatures
• obtain referral/waiver if required
• check for pre-collection status (11)
• check for payment on collection accounts ( 2 or 4)
• check for proper account status (1 or 9)
• highlight comments, notes and patient due balances
• request missing charts for schedule from Medical Records clerk
3. Produce encounter forms for same day
appointments (new or established).
4. Run appointment schedules for the
physicians and nurses at lunch time and at the end of the
day for the next day.
5. Cross train and be able to fill in at
Check-In, Phone Room, Pre-registration and Medical
Records.
6. Pull charts when necessary for messages
and work-in appointments.
7. Maintain the appearance of the waiting
room.
8. Stock/maintain Front Office area
supplies (ie: charts, waivers, handouts, paper,
labels, etc.).
9. Other job related tasks and other duties
as assigned.
Performance
Requirements: Knowledge of business
office procedure. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Knowledge of
appointment scheduling procedures, payment and billing policies, and basic
insurance coverage.
Knowledge of Medical Manager software with
special attention to appointment scheduling and patient registration. Knowledge of different
types of insurance plans and their special requirements. Skills in greeting the patients and
answering question in a helpful, efficient and professional manner. Ability to sort and
file materials correctly by alphabetic and numeric systems. Ability to establish
and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the
public. Must pay close
attention to details and ability to do multiple tasks?
Education
Requirements: High School diploma or
GED.
Experience:
Prefer one year front office
experience in a medical office. Keyboard experience.
Notice
for Departure: Minimum 10 working
days - written.

Type: Hourly.

Rate: $8.00 to $13.00
